MINISTER NATHI MTHETHWA TO VISIT MAMA WINNIE MADIKIZELA-MANDELA’S HOUSE IN BRANDFORT
Arts and Culture Minister, Mr Nathi Mthethwa will on Tuesday, 23 April 2019 formally introduce the newly appointed contractor to the community and stakeholders to commence with renovation and construction of Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s House in Brandfort, a declared national heritage site.
During the visit, Minister Mthethwa will also provide updates on the restorations and development of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela House. The Project Plan among others include restoration of the dwelling house and bombed clinic, and converting them to interpretative spaces; and a construction of a multi-purpose centre with Wi-Fi facilities as well as parking space.
The visit forms part of the Government’s commitment to restore the historically significant 'House Number 802' in Brandfort where the late liberation struggle heroine was banished to by the apartheid government.
