NELSON MANDELA INTERNATIONAL DAY
18 July 2021 marks Nelson Mandela International Day. In recognition of the UN Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners (the Nelson Mandela Rules), this day is also celebrated to promote humane prison conditions, to raise awareness about prisoners being a continuous part of society and to value the work of prison staff. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) therefore invites you to join its global awareness-raising campaign. Take action, inspire change and make your voice heard: #Act4MandelaRules!
How to participate?
Record a video message of yourself (40 seconds max), in which you share your thoughts about the Nelson Mandela Rules and highlight efforts aimed at turning them into reality.
