Limpopo Premier, Mr Chupu Stanley Mathabatha has learnt with shock of the missing four people at the Sea Coast of Mozambique this past few days. Amongst those missing, two are from Groblersdal, Limpopo Province.

The Premier has been in contact with the President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, the Mozambican Authorities and the families of the missing young people.

The group made of eight (8) young people apparently left South Africa (Limpopo) on the 12 January to celebrate a birthday of one of them at the Mozambican coastal line. During a swimming adventure at the Portuguese Islands, four of them were overpowered by a sea wave and unfortunately went missing and are yet to be confirmed dead. The other four were rescued with the assistance of the Mozambican Authorities.

“We wish to thank the South African Embassy, the Mozambican Authorities, and the Navy for their immediate response in rescuing the four and the continued search of the other four”, said Premier.

The four missing are, Mr Tjolo David Kaise, Ms Mahlogonolo Mmatholo, Ms Lesego Matsepe and Mr Gregory Mfune. The two ladies are from Groblersdal in Limpopo, whereas the two guys are from Secunda and Bloemfontein respectively. The surviving four are Vincent Rammupudu, Lesedi Mmotong, Basetsana Mogafe and Lefentse Mampuru all from Tafelkop and Groblersdal in Limpopo.

The Premier has so far deployed the Elias Motsoaledi Mayor, Ms Julia Mathebe and her Municipal Manager to go to Mozambique to lend a hand of support to the families already there, on behalf of the South African government and Limpopo Province.
