Statement by Mrs. Lydia Greyling, Minister Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa, International Atomic Energy Agency, Board of Governors, Vienna from 2 to 6 June 2014
AGENDA ITEM 5: Report on the programme and budget commitee
Chairperson,
My delegation associates itself with the statements delivered by Ambassador of Sri Lanka on behalf of the G77 and China and by the Chair of the African Group. My delegation would like to express its appreciation to Ambassador Paradas and Ambassador Oyugi for the able manner in which they have chaired the Working Group and for their progress report to the Board in this regard. My delegation would also like to thank the Secretariat for the technical support they have provided to this process, which has significantly increased their burden over the last six months, but which has exponentially increased our understanding of all elements of the budgetary process.
My delegation has benefited from the opportunity to exchange views and engage on a wide range of issues related to financing the Agency’s activities as a whole, including the TC Fund. We look forward to further substantive discussions in this regard and to working closely with other Member States in finding tangible and long-lasting solutions that will strengthen and support the work of the Agency.
Thank you
